Look at this little doll! I had the joy of photographing her when she was 3 days old, now she's 6 months and all growed up! :) So cute, and mom had the BEST hats and diapers for her. It was so fun!

I had a hard time converting this one to black & white, with such fantastic colors, I had to force myself to!

Hello valued friends and clients!

I'm excited to announce the first Elizabeth Plass Photography Blog Contest at this here blog. Each and every one of my past clients can win! And what's more, one lucky winner will win a beautiful 16x20 storyboard.

How's it work? Well, I'm glad you asked! It's easy. Get your friends, family, and coworkers to visit my blog, and leave a comment at the post with your images. That simple!! Get more than 25 comments from different friends and family, and get a free 8x10 on me (current value $25). Maternity/newborn clients, make sure you let your friends and family know which post you want them to comment on. :)

The second part of the contest is this....the post with the most comments will receive a 16x20 storyboard (current value $100, see below for sample). There are 6 different layouts. These come beautifully mounted on styrene, so they're sturdy and have longevity. You choose the layout, and the photos.

As promised, here are some more images from my weekend in Salt Lake City, UT. After the baby shoot, we did a small family session at Murray Park. It's gorgeous there!

Holiday Photo Mini Sessions

This year, Elizabeth Plass photography will be offering holiday photo mini sessions at a reduced price, in addition to my regular full blown sessions. The mini sessions will all be held on one day in either September or October and at a secret garden location off of Greenway and the 51.

The mini session fee is $125 and includes a fifteen minute mini session with 5-7 poses of your family (up to 5 people), and either 50 4x6 prints (1-2 poses) for your holiday cards - or - 25 5x7 holiday cards. Additional 4x6 prints (same pose) or holiday cards can be purchased at a reduced rate of $2 per print or card.

I need at least 10 interested families in order to book the gorgeous garden location to hold the sessions, so if you're interested, please give me a call at 602.708.0022, email at plassphoto@cox.net or comment on this here blog. If you know anyone who is interested, please feel free to pass this information along. If there are enough interested families, we can hold the sessions over multiple days, which will give you more options on when to have your photos taken.

Once I have a date set, I will notify all interested parties and there will be a first come/first serve basis on reserving your time, based on payment. A PayPal button will be located on my blog for payment, or you can pay in cash, check or money order.

If you have any questions, please let me know!

Last week I met with Meredith of Go Go Natural, an online cloth and organic diaper company, to get some images for an ad she's placing with The Bump, an upscale local resource guide for new and expectant moms.

We got some of the cutest images!

In the end, she chose to use this image for her ad.

I had the pleasure of photographing the C family on Friday evening. What fun! Their little guy is absolutely adorable, and such a little charmer!! By the end of the shoot he had already picked flowers for me, given me a big hug, and planted a wet one right on my face! Sorry Mom and Dad...! :D

As I mentioned, me and my hubby and the parents went for a weekend getaway to the Grand Canyon, weekend before last. It had been about ten years since I'd been there, and my father had never been! He's lived here for 40 years. How do you not go to the Grand Canyon in 40 years? That boggles me.

Anyhow, I went there, excited to take pictures, thinking I was going to come back with Ansel Adamsesque pictures. Didn't happen. First of all, I have about 1/10 the talent of that photographic genius, and secondly, well...there was so much haze there! I was so saddened. The tour guides told us part of it was due to fires, but the majority of it was due to plain ol' pollution. One of the greatest natural wonders of the world is turning into a smoke stack. *coughs*

Don't get me wrong, it's still absolutely beautiful, and so worth the trip.

Here's my handsome hubby looking out over the beauty of the Grand Canyon. And no, this shot is SO not set up. :)

Grand Old State

I went to the Grand Canyon this past weekend, as part of my "Explore Arizona" campaign I've started. Of course, you would think I would have started "exploring" Arizona in the fall, but noooo, I wait until June to start. What am I thinking???

Anyhow, I'll post some of the images once I've had a chance to work through them. For now, I thought I would post some images I took at the Desert Botanical Gardens recently. That is really a great place to go and just take pictures, and also a great place to do sessions. It's so beautiful there, I often wonder why I don't go there more often.

Look at this...can you believe the sky was THIS blue here in Phoenix?

Had to get some native cactus pictures.

These were taken during the Butterfly Exhibit, so pretty.

And finally, look at the colors on these cactus flowers! They're gorgeous! Why have I not ever noticed them before?

And I don't mean in the 'what I would like to see happen in the future' sense. I mean literally.
Well, on occasion, I'll have dreams that my equipment fails to work at a wedding, or that I've completely forgotten to even bring my equipment! lol. Which, the first could probably happen, but I usually have one to two cameras as backup, so more than likely it wouldn't. And the second...if I forget to take my equipment to a wedding, I'm in sad shape. :D

Last night, though, I had the most random dream ever. I dreamt I was telling someone, that I had shot Britney Spears' latest maternity shots, and I didn't know if I could sell them to the magazines, because I hadn't obtained a release! How random can you get? I don't even like Britney Spears! Anyhow, I thought it was pretty funny.

As for what I would like to see happen in the future...I would love to own my own studio, and go full time, photographing babies, and kids, families, pregnant women all day long! I would like to be successful and make lots of people happy through my work. You all cross your fingers that happens, ok? And maybe, just maybe, one of those women will be Britney. :D

Three Princess - Part Deux

Remember these three little beauties? Well, during the first session, it was raining, so we did all of our images indoors. We finally met up again, to get some outdoor shots, and had so much fun. They really are the sweetest, most gorgeous girls around!

I had a great outdoor maternity session yesterday afternoon!! What fun that was! I might have to do that more often. The scenery was great, used some of the native Arizona landscape, down at Papago Park. The subject, well, she was just beautiful! And her belly! Needless to say, she's going in tomorrow to have that big guy. :) Good luck tomorrow, Melissa! Thank you for being such a wonderful subject.

I can't wait to take pictures of her new baby next weekend! Of course you know I'll share them with you.

I had a great senior session yesterday! And by senior, I mean high school senior. It's amazing how many people think I mean senior citizen when I say 'senior'. LOL. Not that I'm opposed to taking pictures of senior citizens or anything....but anyways, enough rambling. Time for pictures.

Had a great maternity session with a couple whose wedding I photographed almost three years ago to the day. This is their second child, and it was great to spend some time with them again! I can't wait til their little boy is born, so we can take those baby pictures. ;)

Hmmm, I must be incredibly lucky, because it seems like every single kid I photograph is simply adorable!! Look at these two! The 6 year old was a little ham, and LOVED posing for the camera. The two year old, not so keen on getting his picture taken, but still, the pictures we did get...so sweet. And have you ever seen such eyes?

What little boys are made of...

To look at these two little guys, you'd think little boys are made of sugar and spice, instead of snips and snails. Look at how cute they are!! The older brother had the most incredible eyes! And such a little charmer. The younger one, well, can you get any cuter? And that hair! I loved it!!

Balloons, live animals and two little girls

Yesterday, I had the funniest session. I'm still laughing about it. Two little girls and their St. Bernard puppy. (yes, that's a puppy in those photos). The puppy was jumping all over the balloons, and popping them, making the five year old upset, and the two year old refused to be in any photos! Their poor mom was so embarrassed, and I think a wee bit upset. But it was so funny. Here's a couple of outtakes from the session:

There were sooo many good images from this shoot. This family was so gorgeous, it was easy to take good pictures. I love those kinds of shoots. :D

However, out of all the images that I took, this one is my personal favorite.

So sweet and tender. I softened the image to make the moment more ethereal and private. It is so beautiful to me. And of course, who can resist that cute dimply baby bum?

Three Little Sisters

Well, it seems everyone is sick!! The baby session I had scheduled last weekend cancelled, due to the baby's brother being sick, and today's session cancelled because the wee guy is sick. Boo! Poor munchkins...I hope they feel better soon. I am so excited to take their pictures.

I do have a baby session scheduled for tomorrow, so as soon as I am working on them, I'll post a sneak peek here for the parents, and all of you.

For now...I thought I would post some images from a kid's session I did of my friend's nieces, last time I went to visit her. They're such cuties!

Hello everyone! Well, we just got back from a New Year's cruise around the Hawaiian islands, to celebrate me and hubby's 5 year anniversary, and my stepmom's 60th birthday. What a way to ring in the New Year! Hawaii is gorgeous! I have to share a few of my favorite pics.
